Scandinavian Kitchen Design in Central London

Commissioned by architect Michael Schranz, this central London kitchen was designed to sit naturally within a home already defined by Douglas fir.

The brief was to create a kitchen with the warmth of Scandinavian design while ensuring it worked beautifully for a busy family of four.

We designed and crafted bespoke cabinetry with hand-stained Douglas fir veneer doors, stainless steel worktops by Barazza, finger-joint oak drawers and high-performance appliances. The result is a warm, minimalist kitchen that feels precise, practical and deeply personal.

Integrating with the existing interior

This was a project where harmony mattered.

The home already had a strong Douglas fir theme, so the kitchen needed to feel like part of the architecture rather than an addition. Working with architect Michael Schranz, we developed a design that carried the natural wood language through the space while giving the kitchen its own identity.

The collaboration was central to the result. By aligning the cabinetry, materials, and layout with the architect’s broader vision, we were able to create an architect-collaborated kitchen that feels perfect from every angle.

Flow between the kitchen and the living space

Scandinavian design is often at its best when it feels effortless. In this kitchen, that meant creating a space that was warm, minimal and easy to live with.

The layout was designed for a busy family of four, so every inch had to work hard. Tall units reach up to the ceiling to maximise storage while keeping the room visually clean. The preparation area is streamlined, with stainless steel worktops offering a practical surface that feels crisp and contemporary.

The result is a minimalist kitchen design London project with natural warmth at its centre. Calm, useful and beautifully resolved.

Bespoke cabinetry details

The hand-stained Douglas fir veneer doors are the defining feature of the kitchen.

They were chosen to complement the home’s existing timber character, adding depth, texture, and a sense of continuity. The finish feels warm without being heavy, allowing the cabinetry to sit comfortably within the surrounding architecture.

Inside, meticulously crafted finger-joint oak drawers bring another layer of detail. These are practical elements, made for everyday use, but they also speak to the care and precision behind the design.
