A bathroom can be more than just a functional space. With smart design, it can become a personal retreat. A space where you can escape, unwind in an inviting bath, and recharge after a long day. That’s exactly what we set out to achieve with our recent project – a transformation that turned a small, tired bathroom into a spa-like haven.
The Project Goal: A Calm Contemporary Retreat
Our client wanted their bathroom to feel like a personal spa. A place to relax and indulge. The challenge? Achieving this in a compact space. The original layout left little room for movement, and storage was minimal, making the space feel cluttered and uninspired.
Our goal was clear: to think creatively and craft a space that was both beautiful and practical. We knocked down two walls to open up the room and focused on maximising every inch of available space. A sleek, modern design and a neutral palette were chosen to create a sense of calm and openness.
Before: Tired and Closed-In
The original bathroom felt cramped and outdated. Dark corners and awkward storage made it difficult to relax.
There was little room for any sense of luxury. The layout didn’t work for the client’s needs, and it certainly didn’t have the tranquil, spa-like feel they were dreaming of.
After: Luxurious and Inviting
After, Petherton Road Project.
Fast forward to the completed bathroom. The transformation is remarkable. Walking in now feels like stepping into a private hideaway. The centrepiece is a freestanding bath that sits gracefully in front of a stunning herringbone feature wall. Together, these elements bring both sophistication and warmth to the room.
Practicality Meets Luxury
To honour the character of this Victorian property, we used porcelain tiles in a herringbone pattern, adding texture and interest to the space. We also lowered the ceiling to create a more intimate atmosphere and installed a niche with soft, mood lighting to highlight the feature wall.
We didn’t just focus on aesthetics. Every choice was made with functionality in mind. Bespoke joinery was custom-designed to fit the space perfectly, providing ample storage while keeping everything neat and organised. The walk-in shower, complete with high-quality finishes and modern fixtures, offers the ultimate spa experience.
Bringing It All Together
And lastly, the final touch: a circular mirror with integrated lighting. Adding a soft, warm glow while being incredibly practical; making it easier to get ready in the morning.
The result is a bathroom that feels spacious, serene, and luxurious, all within the same footprint. We turned a small, uninspiring room into a space that feels like a five-star spa – right in the comfort of home.
